Welcome to Seven Stories Theatre Company!
For the past 8 years, Seven Stories Theatre Company (formerly New Mystics Theatre Company) has maintained a Theatre Company composed of teen and young adult performers focusing on cultural and social issues including, but not limited to: violence in all its forms, bullying, teen pregnancy, drug and alcohol abuse, suicide, and racism/cultural intolerance.
We have now reached over 27,000 young people, families, and communities in West Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York with our social justice plays and interactive bullying education and prevention workshops, not only education but provoking discussion and collaboration.
We all have our individual and collective stories, and Seven Stories strives to reach anyone with a story to tell and to tell the stories of those who cannot tell their own.
The Artistic Staff, in collaboration with the Company members, create original performance pieces by using both established and their own cutting-edge techniques in brainstorming, improvisation, and playwriting in a workshop setting. Using a variety of theatre techniques both new and old, Seven Stories Theatre Company creates plays and programs that help students increase their self-esteem and team-building, problem-solving, and communication skills so that they can visualize and actualize successful and socially healthy lives.
Because young people are involved from the very beginning of brainstorming all the way through the performance or other public presentation, the theatre pieces and interactive workshops we present are engaging and relevant to the audience they reach. The pieces can also be customized to fit the specific needs of schools, human service providers, and religious and other community organizations in developing solutions to social problems important to them.
In the past two years, Seven Stories has integrated Main Stage productions and adult actors into our work, producing and creating plays that matter to our communities and beyond.
Thank you for visiting this website, and we look forward to sharing our stories with you and hearing your own.
